Whole Wheat Bread from your bread machine

Use this King Arthur Flour recipe for Whole Wheat Bread.

Weigh the flour (14.875 ounces) instead of using a measuring cup. 1 cup of flour weighs 4.25 ounces.

Substitute 1 to 1 ½ cups bread flour for an equal amount of whole wheat flour. Even with the vital wheat gluten I find the bread is too dense if I use only whole wheat flour.

Use maple syrup.

Use  ½ cup oatmeal and ⅓ cup sunflower seeds.

Use the dough cycle on your bread machine and then follow the recipe from Step 5.  I prefer to bake the bread in my oven rather than in my bread machine.

I’ve used King Arthur 100% Whole Wheat flour, King Arthur Sprouted Wheat flour and Janie’s Mill Whole Kernel Bread flour.  They all work well in the recipe.
