Meringue

4 egg whites

½ teaspoon cream of tartar

½ cup sugar

½ teaspoon vanilla

Beat the egg whites at high speed with an electric mixer until foamy.  Add the cream of tartar then slowly add the sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.  Add the vanilla and mix well.

Top the pie with the meringue and bake for 20 minutes at 325° or until desired color.
